Pay by Bank Isn't Showing as an Option
Go to add a payment method and only see Add New Card and Google Pay — no Pay by Bank? It should appear automatically when it's available, but certain browser or device settings can quietly get in the way. Here's how to get it to show up.
When it's working, you'll see a Bank option next to Card.
- Pay by Bank is only available to eligible users in the U.S., and Stripe (our payment processor) has to verify your location and eligibility before showing it.
- A VPN, ad blocker, or privacy extension can block the info Stripe needs — so the option doesn't appear.
- Quick fixes: try a desktop, switch browsers, turn off any VPN, disable ad/privacy extensions, or use an incognito window.
Why this happens
Pay by Bank is currently available only to eligible users in the U.S. Before it can show the option, our payment processor, Stripe, needs to verify things like your location and eligibility.
VPNs, ad blockers, privacy extensions, or certain browser privacy settings can block the information Stripe uses for that check. When that happens, Pay by Bank may not appear at all — even though your account is perfectly fine.
A few things to try
- Try a desktop computer. If you're on mobile, switch to a desktop — we've seen the most success with Pay by Bank appearing there.
- Switch browsers. For example, try Chrome instead of Safari, or vice versa.
- Turn off any VPN. A VPN can hide your real location from Stripe's check.
- Disable ad-blocking or privacy extensions. Just temporarily, while you add the payment method.
- Try an incognito / private window. This helps rule out an extension or a cached browser setting getting in the way.
Common questions
Is something wrong with my account?
Almost never. This is a browser/device verification issue, not an account problem. Once Stripe can confirm your location and eligibility, Pay by Bank shows up on its own.
Why is desktop more reliable than mobile?
Mobile browsers and their privacy settings are more likely to block the cross-site info Stripe uses to verify eligibility, so the option is more likely to appear on a desktop browser.
Is Pay by Bank available outside the U.S.?
Not right now — it's currently U.S.-only. If Stripe can't confirm you're in the U.S. (for example, because a VPN is on), the option won't show.
