What If a Customer Buys It Now and Also Has Bids?

3 min read · Updated June 2026

Sometimes a customer comments your Buy It Now price to claim one item but is also the top bidder on others that haven’t ended yet. Here’s how to make sure they get one tidy checkout instead of several separate ones.

TL;DR
  • A Buy It Now win normally sends a checkout link right away — even if that same person is still bidding on other items.
  • Turn on Delayed BIN so their Buy It Now win waits for the drop to end and joins everything in one checkout.
  • Or edit your checkout message to tell buyers they can hold off paying until bidding ends if they’re eyeing more items.

Why this happens

A Buy It Now bid wins instantly, while regular bids are decided when the drop ends. So if one customer claims an item at your Buy It Now price and is the high bidder on a few items still in the auction, they could get one checkout link now and another when the drop closes. It all works — it’s just two messages instead of one.

Option 1: Turn on Delayed BIN (recommended)

If you’d rather each customer get a single checkout, turn on Delayed BIN in your Sales Assistant settings. Instead of winning instantly, a Buy It Now win is held until the drop ends. That way, that item and any bidding items the customer wins are all combined into one checkout link and one message.

i
Wins already combine within a drop Anytime a customer wins more than one item in the same drop, those wins are bundled into one checkout automatically. Delayed BIN simply makes sure a Buy It Now win waits and joins that same bundle. More in How Checkout Works.

Option 2: Edit your checkout message

If you’d rather keep Buy It Now instant, you can add a friendly line to your checkout message letting customers know they can hold off on paying until bidding ends if they think they’ll win more items. That way an interested buyer can wait and pay for everything together, on the link that includes all their wins.

You can word your checkout message in your Sales Assistant settings.

Which should I pick?

If getting customers a single, clean checkout matters to you, Delayed BIN is the simplest fix — it’s automatic. If you like Buy It Now winning instantly (it can encourage quick sales), keep it on and use the checkout message note instead.

Does Delayed BIN slow down all my sales?

If a customer wins several items, is it really one payment?

Yes — wins from the same drop are combined into one checkout link and one message. See How Checkout Works.
