Welcome back, guys! We are back for another Thryfter Thursday, a day we use to spotlight the small thrifting businesses in our community! Today we had the honor of interviewing Casey Brehm, the founder of Dash of Dandy Thrift. Casey puts together unique home good items, and at times, unique vintage clothing items, and both are must-haves in your homes! Casey is a new Thryft Ship customer and we have welcomed her into our family with open arms and cannot wait to see the heights her business will reach while using our streamlined shipping services.

Firstly, out of curiosity, how did you first hear about Thryft Ship?
I found it on Instagram!
As you know, it’s not easy running a business, much less deciding to start one and actually following through with it. That is why we admire all the small businesses we work with. We are always so intrigued to learn about how people start their businesses. How did you get yours started?
“I grew up with an appreciation of thrifting and antiquing because I was immersed in it. My grandfather had his own company designing and manufacturing Christmas decorations based on antique postcards, art, and even chocolate molds. He highlighted the history of various countries’ interpretations of “Santa” in his most popular line, “Memories of Santa.” Even today, antiquing and thrifting always feels like a treasure hunt! I love helping a tossed-away item find a new home. It’s good for the environment and the soul!”
Is there any advice you’d give fellow business owners or people looking to start their own businesses?
“My favorite piece of advice I’ve heard is: “Done is better than perfect.” So, go for it! You’ll make mistakes, but that’s all part of the process!”
We really love that advice because people often delay starting something or don’t start at all because they want everything to be perfect. You really just have to start and figure things out as you go, so thank you for mentioning that!
Next question, what’s the biggest challenge you’ve had to overcome?
“I overcome lots of challenges every day as someone who is neurodivergent and chronically ill. It has helped me put things in perspective and appreciate the small stuff.”
In order to overcome any challenge and to keep having the courage and energy to overcome challenges as they come, there has to be a sense of motivation. What keeps you motivated to keep going?
“Always chasing that dopamine hit of a sweet thrift store bargain! And also the desire to hustle and be financially independent.”
And finally, we’d like to know if you have any upcoming drops you’d like to mention
“I have some kitsch, springy pastel, and chinoiserie-themed drops coming soon!”
