Paying with Your Thryft Ship Balance

2 min read · Updated July 2026

Once you're taking payments on Thryft Ship, your earnings sit in your balance — and you can spend that balance right on your shipping labels, fee-free. No paying your money out to the bank just to send it back to buy postage.

TL;DR
  • If you accept payments on Thryft Ship, you can pay for your labels straight from your available balance — completely fee-free.
  • No balance, or want to use something else? Pay by Instant Bank Transfer (also fee-free) or by credit card (a small card fee, charged by Stripe — not by us).
  • Think of it like a Venmo balance: keep your earnings in Thryft Ship, spend them as orders come in, and pay yourself out whenever you're ready.

Your balance is your spending money

When you have payments enabled, the money your customers pay you builds up as your available balance. That balance isn't just for cashing out — you can spend it directly on Thryft Ship, starting with the shipping labels for those same orders. And when you pay from your balance, there's no fee at all.

Paying from your balance is always freeYour earnings go straight to work covering postage — nothing is skimmed off the top.

Your payment options

When it's time to pay for a label, you've got three ways to cover it:

Available balanceFee-free

Spend the earnings already sitting in your Thryft Ship balance. The simplest option if you've made sales — no money has to move anywhere.

Instant Bank TransferFee-free

Pay straight from your bank account, with no processing fee. A great choice when your balance is low. (More on why it's free.)

Credit or debit cardSmall card fee

Pay by card if that's easiest. Cards carry a small processing fee — that fee comes from Stripe, the card processor, not from Thryft Ship.

Why keep your money in Thryft Ship

Here's the part sellers love. Without a balance, buying labels means a round trip: pay your earnings out to your bank, then turn around and pay Thryft Ship from that same money. With your Thryft Ship balance, you skip all of that — your earnings stay put, you buy labels as orders come in, and you pay yourself out in one go whenever you're done (or however you like).

Just like a Venmo balanceA lot of sellers already treat their Venmo balance like a spending account — money comes in, money goes out, and they cash out when they want. Your Thryft Ship balance works the same way, kept right where you sell and ship.

Common questions

Does paying with my balance cost anything?

No. Paying with your available balance is completely fee-free — the full amount goes toward your label.

What if I don't have enough balance?

Cover it with Instant Bank Transfer (also fee-free) or a credit/debit card (a small card fee applies). Use whatever's easiest for you.

Is the credit card fee charged by Thryft Ship?

No. That fee is Stripe's standard card-processing charge — Thryft Ship doesn't add anything on top. Paying by balance or Instant Bank Transfer avoids it entirely.

Do I have to use my balance?

Not at all — it's just an option. You can always pay by bank transfer or card instead, and cash your balance out to your bank whenever you want.

How is this like a Venmo balance?

Your earnings stay in Thryft Ship as spendable money. You spend from it as you buy labels, and pay out to your bank on your own schedule — the same way many sellers use a Venmo balance.
