When You Get Paid: Payouts & Instant Payouts
Once a customer’s payment settles, it lands in your available balance, ready to send to your bank. Your very first payout takes a little longer to set up — after that, you can pay yourself whenever you want, and instant payouts have you covered if you need cash fast.
- Your first payout takes about 7–14 days while Stripe finishes setting up your account.
- Money from a sale becomes available about 2 business days after the customer pays.
- After that, you pay yourself whenever you want from your Payouts page — standard payouts land about 1–2 business days later.
- Need it sooner? An instant payout sends your available balance to an eligible debit card or bank in about 30 minutes, for a small fee.
Your first payout (about 7–14 days)
When you start taking payments, Stripe holds your first payout for roughly 7 to 14 days while it finishes verifying your account. This is a normal, one-time setup wait — nothing is wrong, and there’s nothing you need to do. You can watch it on your Payouts page.
After that: pay yourself when you’re ready
Once your account is set up, your money waits in your available balance until you’re ready for it. Money from a sale usually becomes available about 2 business days after the customer pays — it shows as “pending” until then. Whenever you want to get paid, head to your Payouts page and request a payout to your bank — standard payouts typically arrive 1–2 business days later. Curious about a “pending” amount?
