How to Remove a Bid (Untag a Comment)

Did a comment get counted as a bid when it shouldn’t have? No problem, and nothing is broken. You can take a bid off any item in a couple of taps by untagging the comment, and Thryft Ship sorts out the rest.

When you’d remove a bid

The Sales Assistant watches your comments during a drop and tags valid bids for you automatically. Every so often you’ll want to take one back off an item. Maybe a comment got read as a bid when it wasn’t really one, like a stray number, a duplicate, or a playful comment. Or maybe you chatted with the buyer and they asked to pull their bid after a mix-up or a change of heart. Real conversations happen, and anything can come up. Whatever the reason, removing the bid simply untags that comment so it stops counting toward the item.

Untag is not delete. Removing a bid only takes the bid tag off the comment inside Thryft Ship. The comment itself stays right where it is on your Instagram post.

How to remove a bid

Open the item in your drop
In your Sales Assistant, open the drop and tap the item whose bid you want to fix.
Tap View all comments
This opens the full list of comments on that item, with each valid bid tagged.
Find the comment and tap Untag
Scroll to the comment you want to remove as a bid and tap Untag next to it.
Confirm
A quick confirmation shows you whose comment it is and the amount. Tap Yes, untag to remove the bid, or Keep as bid if you change your mind.

What happens if I untag the current top bid?

Thryft Ship recomputes the top bid from the remaining valid bids on that item and may promote the next-highest bidder into the lead. The confirmation warns you when the bid you’re untagging is the current top, so it’s always your call.

A buyer asked to take their bid back. What do I do?

Same quick fix. Open the item, tap View all comments, find that person’s comment, and untag it. It stops counting as a bid, and if it happened to be the top bid the standings recompute on their own.

Does untagging delete the comment from Instagram?

No. Untagging only removes the bid tag inside Thryft Ship. The comment stays on your post exactly as your customer left it.

Why did a comment get tagged as a bid in the first place?

The Sales Assistant reads your comments and automatically tags the ones that look like valid bids so you don’t have to track them by hand. Now and then something reads like a bid when it wasn’t, and untagging is the quick fix.

What if I just don’t want someone bidding at all?

If it’s a customer you’d rather not have bidding, you can block them from your Sales Assistant settings. Blocking stops them from bidding and from getting replies through Thryft Ship going forward.
