Thryfter Thursday - 2.23.2022

Hey, y’all! We are back again for another week of Thryfter Thursday! We cannot get enough of the incredible entrepreneurs we are blessed to work with. Today we will be featuring Madison Snively, founder of Macks Thrift!

This founder puts together unique casual to dressy pieces that are a must-have in everyone’s closet! Madison has been partnering with us for about a year and a half, and we cannot wait to continue supporting her on her journey! Madison mentioned that we reached out to her for a partnership when her business was first getting up and running (real tears!). We are so honored to have been there from the beginning!

See how our conversation went when we caught up with Madison:

How did you start your business?

On the gram selling clothes from my closet + I began distressing vintage denim on my own and reselling it!

How did you market your business when it was brand new?

Through giveaways, getting to know other thrifters, and remaining consistent!

Any advice for those wanting to start a business or those already in the industry?

My advice to those on the fence about starting a business is to get started! The start is the hardest part! To those wanting to start a business and those already in the industry, be encouraged that no one else is you; you have something unique to bring to the table! Let that motivate you rather than letting comparison steal your creativity! Remain authentic; people want to see your heart!

What keeps you motivated to keep going?

I absolutely love my job! But what keeps me going is knowing that I am doing this for the Lord! “Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people” – Colossians 3:23.

What has been your biggest challenge as an entrepreneur?

Learning to be flexible with the changes of Instagram and not fixating so much on growth. I don’t think it’s bad to want to grow your business, but I think the pressure I can put on myself to grow can steal from enjoying the process of growing and learning along the way. I believe culture pushes so much on having a big following that I often think I’m failing if I’m not growing or even losing followers. But when I slow down and invest in the people that are already following me, and I remain authentic rather than striving, I enjoy my job much more! I have to remind myself to keep my eyes on the Lord, trust in Him, and that in due time growth will come; it may not result in numbers but growth in my mind, heart, and in my walk with Jesus.

What has been your biggest success story so far?

My biggest success story (in the business world) — filing sales tax on my own because that is no joke, people!!! But also being able to say that I absolutely love what I do and know that I’ve met some incredible people while running a shop on Instagram! It’s an honor the Lord has given me this platform!

Who is your role model, and why?

“My role model (in the small business world) would probably be Maggie from @yomamasjewelry — she has such an authentic heart for the Lord. She represents the joy of knowing Christ in such a sweet way through her business. It encourages me to do the same! Not to mention she is so creative, and she pushes out some of the prettiest jewelry. I’m a big fan of the gold spoon rings + the lil’ flower rings. She’s just the best!!!”
