Today marks the return of our Thryfter Thursdays, and we are thrilled to kick things off with an incredible thrifting success story we’re excited to share—ThriftsBy.Lo, created by Lauren Bartu, who embarked on this journey in July of last year! With nearly a year under her belt, Lauren has been passionately steering her business forward.
The Beginning of the Journey
Lauren’s love for shopping and styling clothes has been a lifelong passion. Last summer, inspired by fellow resellers on Instagram, she realized she could channel her passion into something more meaningful by starting a thrifting account. “It’s been a huge blessing and a passion project that I absolutely love working on. It allows me to shop sustainably and with others in mind, rather than just for myself”, says Lauren. With a background in graphic design and a keen eye for aesthetics, she’s relished in creating a brand and unique style for her shop.
Thryft Ship Connection
Introduced to Thryft Ship through other resellers, Lauren quickly embraced the platform and hasn’t looked back since. She acknowledges the pivotal role Thryft Ship has played in streamlining her shipping process, remarking, “I unexpectedly love the business side of it, and Thryft Ship plays a huge part in that! When I was initially researching how to start an online shop, the shipping aspect stressed me out more than anything else. Thankfully, with Thryft Ship, the entire shipping process is such a breeze. I seriously can’t imagine doing this without them!”
Little by Little
Building a successful business requires dedication, hardwork, and patience. When starting out, Lauren employed various marketing strategies, including seeking shoutouts, leveraging word-of-mouth referrals from friends and family, targeting followers of other resellers, and participating in giveaways. These efforts have paid off, with her account experiencing significant growth in recent months. Now, she focuses on staying active and engaging with her followers through reels, stories, and sales, which has been immensely rewarding.

For Lauren, the most rewarding aspects of her journey with ThriftsBy.Lo have been experiencing the kindness of the Lord in allowing her business to flourish into something she loves doing and makes a living from. Additionally, the engagement from her community of buyers and resellers has been incredibly fulfilling, fostering meaningful connections she never thought possible.
