What to Do If Your Drop Has More Than 50 Items

What to Do If Your Drop Has More Than 50 Items

If you’re running a larger drop, there’s one important Instagram limit to know about:

Instagram currently limits automated posting through the API to 50 posts per day.

What happens after 50 items?

To help keep your account safe and avoid pushing Instagram’s API too hard, Thryft Ship will automatically pause posting once your drop reaches the 50-post limit.

You’ll see a pause in your drop, and once the 24-hour limit has passed, you’ll be able to come back and select Resume Posting.

In most cases, this means you’ll resume posting the next day.

Your options

Option 1: Resume posting after the pause

This is the easiest option if you want the rest of your drop to stay connected to the Sales Assistant.

  • The first 50 items will post automatically.
  • Thryft Ship will pause before posting more.
  • After the 24-hour limit has passed, you can click Resume Posting.
  • The remaining items will continue posting through Thryft Ship.

Option 2: Post remaining items manually

If you do not want to wait, you can post the remaining items manually on Instagram.

Just keep in mind: manually posted items are not connected to the Sales Assistant.

Manual posts will not have:

  • Automatic bid tracking
  • Automatic responses
  • Outbid notifications
  • Automatic checkout links
  • Orders automatically created in Thryft Ship

You’ll need to manage bids, claims, and winners yourself directly on Instagram. Once you have your winners, you can DM them and send your regular Thryft Ship checkout link.

What we recommend

If you want your drop to stay automated, we recommend letting Thryft Ship pause after 50 posts and then resuming once the 24-hour limit has passed.

If timing is more important and you’re comfortable managing some items yourself, you can manually post the extras and send checkout links after the sale.

What we’re working on

We’re working on a way for you to post directly on Instagram and later link those posts back to Thryft Ship, so they can still work with the Sales Assistant even if they were not originally created through the system.

Quick recap

  • Instagram limits automated API posting to 50 posts per day.
  • Thryft Ship automatically pauses after 50 posts to help protect your account.
  • You can resume posting after the 24-hour limit has passed, usually the next day.
  • If you manually post extra items, you’ll need to manually manage bids, claims, and checkout.
  • You can still send winners your regular Thryft Ship checkout link.
