How Universal Customers Work on Thryft Ship (and Who Can See Your Data)

At Thryft Ship, our goal is to make checkout faster, easier, and more secure for every buyer — no matter which small business you’re shopping from. That’s why we introduced Universal Customers, a feature designed to save you time while giving you full control over your personal information.

What Is a Universal Customer?

When you’re checking out on any seller’s Thryft Ship form, you’ll see a small checkbox that says something like:

“Save my info for future purchases.”

If you click that box, you become a Universal Customer — meaning Thryft Ship creates a secure customer profile just for you. This profile lets you:

• Store one or multiple shipping addresses
• Securely update or edit your information anytime
• Reuse your info across any Thryft Ship merchant without retyping
• (Coming soon!) Save payment methods for faster checkout

It’s all about making your next checkout experience smoother and more convenient.

How Autofill Works (and When It Doesn’t)

After you save your info, here’s what happens behind the scenes:

🟣 Any time you enter your Instagram handle on any merchant’s Thryft Ship form, your saved info will automatically fill in for you.

This includes the addresses you’ve saved — and, in the future, saved payment methods too.

But here’s the important part:

👉 Merchants cannot access your information unless YOU submit it to them.

This means:

• They can’t look you up.
• They can’t search for you.
• They can’t view anything until you choose to share it by completing their form.

Your info stays fully private until you decide to submit it.

When Can a Merchant See Your Address?

Once you submit a form to a merchant, they can see all of the addresses saved on your Universal Customer profile.

Before submission?
❌ They see nothing.

After submission?
✅ They can see all the shipping addresses you have saved so they can help you choose the correct one.

Even though autofill works everywhere, each merchant only gains visibility into your information after you submit it to them. This keeps your data private until you choose to share it.

You Stay in Control: Update, Edit, or Delete Any Time

You can manage your Universal Customer profile at any time through your settings page:

• Add new addresses
• Edit existing ones
• Rename or organize addresses (ex: “Home,” “Work,” “P.O. Box”)
• Delete anything you no longer want stored
• Delete your entire Universal Customer account with one click

It’s your data. You control it.

How We Keep Your Information Secure

Your privacy is one of our top priorities.

Here’s what that means:

• Your data is encrypted and stored securely
• Only you can access your full list of saved addresses
• Merchants can only see your addresses after submission — never before
• We never sell or share your data with third parties
• Soon, when payment methods are supported, they will be stored with bank-level security standards
